Product Description
The Cheetah GPSmirror is a speed camera & red-light camera detector that prevents tickets and helps keep you safe on the road.
Speed cameras and red-light cameras tend to be placed at dangerous intersections and accident blackspots. The GPSmirror comes preloaded with the locations of these enforcement cameras stored in its memory, and it warns you with a voice and visual reminder whenever you are approaching a camera. You can keep the mirror's memory up to date by downloading new camera locations from the Trinity database on speedcheetah.com. You can also mark other locations for your own personal reminders.

Nifty device, detects Redlight & Speed Cameras + much more...
By A. D. Wade
As a stand alone GPS, it has a built-in database of all the Redlight & Speed Cameras so as you approach one it will forewarn you of such.
It's as simple as taking it out of the box, clipping it over your existing mirror, routing the cigarette lighter based power cable up to it, and turning it ON.
The very first time it's turned ON, it may take a few minutes to determine exactly where you are, but after that it typically knows your exact location within a second or two of startup. Trinity database updates are free to registered owners for life via an included PC USB cable when you link to the internet.
It alerts you to all types of Fixed Speed Cameras, Red Light Cameras, as well as Average Speed cameras (GATSO, Truvelo, SPECS, Traffiphot, Redspeed, Redflex, ACS, ATS, Nestor, etc) and other known accident black-spots and common mobile speed trap sites. It contains GPS co-ordinates of the dangerous intersections and/or roads with accident histories where red-light or speed-cameras are being employed.
It has a built-in clock (with all the times zones) and as you drive down the road, it will display both your direction of travel (i.e. SouthEast) as well as your current speed. A 'Rescue Me' button can even announce your exact Latitude & Longitude coordinates, in case you need to make note of them or relay them onto someone else.
If there's a specific spot where 'Ole Smokey hides as you pass by quite often, you can add a new location (up to 100 of them in fact) to the mirror's database by a simple button press. The next time you approach the location you marked, the Cheetah GPS Mirror will WARN you about such. VERY handy for those locations where police hide behind Church Signs, at Entrance Ramps, etc awaiting their next unsuspecting victim.
While the Camera Alerts help you in the city, for out on the Interstate there's a Speed Alert function. You simply set it to any given speed (say 80mph) and if your speed drifts over that amount the mirror speak up and announce "Attention - Overspeed".
But it doesn't quit there, it also has Wireless Datalink Technology that enables it to relay alerts from many radar detectors (i.e. Valentine, Escort, Beltronics, etc) and laser devices (i.e. M-25 Blinder, etc) as well.
Coupled with the Wireless Datalink Technology is something referred to as False Alert Suppression Technology.(F.A.S.T.) For instance, if you purchase the interface (sold separately) for your radar detector you can then program the mirror to MUTE all Radar Alerts say below 35mph. A real blessing in radar swamped cities nowadays, without having to put your detector into CITY Mode thereby reducing it's range.
In short, it allows you to integrate your radar/laser detector with the GPS Mirror, whereby voice alerts identify the radar (or laser band) and tone alerts ramp up to indicate signal strength involved.
Most folks will think "What do I need one for? Never had a ticket for running a light." NEWS-FLASH: Whenever a city installs Redlight Cameras they ALSO shorten the duration of the Yellow lights involved so as to increase revenue.(just Google it and read about such)
SO BEWARE: If a local city has such cameras you're liable to get a surprise in the mail sooner or later...unless you K-N-O-W which intersections are armed with cameras.
4 STAR rating comes from the price of the unit which I feel is high, but overall quality seems top notch to date.
