I use it daily, it's great!
The Garmin Forerunner 305 is great for athletic applications with lap capability and time distance and pace alerts. The software is easy to use also. Setting up the alerts and autopause wasn't easy at first, but where there is a custom option, use it and you will find it easy to tweak as you go.

Features that I'd like to see improved are the 10-hour battery life, contacts and software. Double the battery life and aside from the bulkiness, it would be practical to use it as a wristwatch as well. A feature that I am skeptical of is the exposed set of contacts on the underside of the unit that is in constant contact with your hand. I'd rather see a simple USB port with a little rubber shield. The software would be definitely improved if the many available settings could be pulled from the unit and adjusted in a more user-friendly environment than available with the buttons on the unit. This would definitely speed up the task of entering numbers into the settings and many of them take numbers.

I rarely use the heart monitor.
