Better units available

My mother gave me one of these as a gift. Works ok, but often confuses itself. By this I mean it will actually tell you to make a U-turn, then after you drive a few yards it will again say "make a U turn". Only after you proceed in the proper direction, on your own and ignoring the unit, will the GPS start giving correct directions. Sort of defeats the purpose of a GPS. The other thing is that you cannot get free updates on the companies web site, so the unit will show you as "Off Road" whenever you use a new road or highway. I plan on throwing mine away soon and buying one from a real GPS company.

Initial GM-510 GPS

Overall, I like the unit. It has a big screen that makes it easy to see. However, it doesn't pick up a signal inside my home or my work too well. Volume takes several pics to find. Volume should be located on the map screen. Manual isn't too good - I found more info in reviews on-line. FM transmitter is definitely a nice feature. Came with car & home charger, mounting bracket, and a nice soft carry cover for the unit. I've read on-line that the maps are a from 2005 though. Definitely worth the price I paid. I'm happy with the unit. My other GPS - Magellan is a little more user-friendly.

bought one it was great untill it was time to upgrade it cost $100.00 and i really do not see any difference radio does not work card slot does not work called 3 times and no one calls back very disapointed with it when i bought it they stated it was upgraded on line at no cost gene 620-786-0664
