You easily customize your own SafeSpots – locations where you know your dog is safe, like your backyard, your vacation home or the local park. Whenever your dog leaves a SafeSpot, you’ll receive an alert with your dog’s location by text message, email or both. You can also set up SafeSpots to give you multiple alerts. With the Spotlight GPS Pet Locator System you can locate your pet on the SpotLight website using your cell phone, smart phone, or computer. You can also text message SpotLight from your cell phone or call them and then will tell you where you pet is located, 24 hours a day with precision accuracy. You can even receive turn-by-turn directions to your lost dog sent to your mobile device and/or your personal computer. Spotlight GPS is compatible with ALL cell phone carriers, so it doesn't matter which cell phone provider your cell phone has, but in order for the GPS locator to communicate it needs to be on a T-Mobile coverage area. Disappointing Spotlight GPS locator

I was excited to purchase this product since my dog has ran away several times .
The first spotlight gps locator I received did not work at all. The GPS could not be located from online at all. The tech support line staff was helpful and sent a replacement fairly quickly. As a side note, I was surprised that the support line seems to be a one or two-person operation. I thought this company would be a bigger one.
The second locator worked better but after several weeks of using it, I'm sad to say I'm quite disappointed on how it works. It works only about 20% of the time and when it does, it takes almost 30 minutes to locate online and is about 5 minutes behind when tracking the dog. 5 minutes is a very long time when trying to find a dog who's running. I was told it should only be 30 seconds delayed.
The tech support did not seem surprised at this and made vague promises about sending a "newer" version they were working on. After almost 2 months, I have not received anything.
Overall, unless major fixes are made, this product will not help you locate a lost dog thru GPS tracking.

Poor product Poor customer service

Received product undamaged, unopened
No written documentaion about setting up. Easy to break battery door.
Got to websight, went through one full screen of setup personal information. Got to second screen where asks for serial number off unit and id num off collar tag. Could not get website to accept the codes. Tried to contact company, no answer. Went online and there is an email address that is supposed to be set up for questions and help, but a computer generated reply says the box is unmonitored and there will be no reply....so never did get this unit to activate.

To big , to much money, does not work correctly

It's not quite there yet. The SpotLight GPS pet locator developers need to start over on this GPS device. It's way to big for a Sm dog and just to bulky. It reminds me of the first computers that came out, HUGE and out dated! with todays technology the GPS animal tracking device should be the size of a dog tag with a watch battery or two. There are companies making tiny GPS chips smaller then a Dime. Iphone/smart phones should be able to track these individual id chips with a stand alone app. (no registration or subscriptions to websites) Can't wait for the first company to invent it that way. Until then it's a disappointment and to much money.

For much less money you can buy a keychain GPS locator and attach the sm keychain locator to the dogs collar. Probably about the same size but at least it's much cheaper to try it that way. It would in theory work the same way with all the popular mapping software currently available for iphone, smart phones and or computers.
